Bollywood’s favourite fashion designer Manish Malhotra paid a rare tribute to the 100 glorious years of Indian cinema at his show at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai on Friday. The models, dressed according to the fashion styles that ruled the silver screen right from the 40s to the present, strutted down the ramp. While the front row had celebs such as Karisma Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and a much slimmer Kajol cheering for Malhotra, what took the cake was an impromptu ramp walk by legendary singer Asha Bhosle.
“I have been in this film industry ever since I was 10. And now I’m 80. I’ve done everything here, including even acting in a film, but what has been my only unfulfilled dream is to walk the ramp someday,” said Bhosle. At this, presenter Priyanka Chopra
who looked every bit a diva in a neon green sari, urged her to fulfill the dream right there and then. Bhosle then struck a model’s pose, and walked the full length of the ramp, cheered on by the audience who gave her a standing ovation. >> more from the event on p3
