If you’re not wearing sunshine, you’re not really ‘with it’. We are talking about this season’s hottest colour that’s popping on international runways and has become a rage among fashionistas. Bollywood’s fashion forward women such as Bipasha Basu, Anushka Sharma and Chitrangda Singh also recently rocked the cheery hue. “Yellow is the next red. It’s a bold and dramatic shade that instantly makes a statement,” says fashion designer Ritu Beri. “Yellow compliments the Indian skin tone fantastically,” says designer Anand Kabra, who designed Chitrangda’s sari that she wore at an awards function earlier this year. Not just celebs, the colour has caught the fascination of college goers too, and stores in the city are flooded with demand for outfits in yellow. “The demand for the shade has risen, and I’m creating multiple pieces in yellow,” says designer Shilpi Dhir of Giovani.
Agrees designer duo Bharat and Reshma Grover, whose stores Hollywood and H2 in Kamla Nagar is near the North Campus, and is flooded with requests for yellow dresses and gowns from students of the area. “Especially after Anushka and Bipasha wore yellow on the red carpet, youngsters are thronging our stores looking for dresses in yellow,” says Reshma.
And it’s not just fashion stores, even online portals are getting a lot of demands for outfits in yellow. “Whether it’s yellow jeans, summer dresses or sheer tops, outfits in yellow are flying off the shelves,” says Tanvi Malik, co-founder, FabAlley.com.
