Yoko Ono has made a whacky entry into the fashion world. The Japanese avant-garde artist’s collection, titled, Fashions for Men: 1969-2012, features handprints on the crotch, tank tops with nipple cutouts and even a LED bra for men!
It’s to do with ‘accentuating the good bits,’ says the 79-year-old. Guess what’s spurred Ono’s imagination? Well, she has taken inspiration from the sketches she made in 1969 for her hubby, iconic English musician and a founder member of The Beatles, John Lennon, and gifted to him as a wedding present. She was bowled over by her man, and couldn’t stop herself from designing clothes highlighting his ‘very sexy bod’. “You can imagine how he went wild and fell in love with me even more!” adds Ono.
She has launched the line in collaboration with New York-based brand, Opening Ceremony. If you thought the fashion line is only about having a good laugh, think again.
You will be wearing a piece of history if you buy one of the fashion garments. While not all fashion forward men may be daring enough to rock the crotch-grabbing prints and mesh shirts, the dream hoodie and mixed fabric jackets offer you an easier taste of the line. The collection, priced between $75 to $750 (approx Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 40,000), is available at the label’s store and on its website.
