Valentine's Day is here and if you're tired of the clichéd mall-restaurant-multiplex routine, here is your chance to celebrate the day differently. We offer a unique Delhi-style alternative and a more pocket-friendly way to spend the special day.

If you're one of those diehard romantics, why not give your loved one the Ghalib treatment. Take her/him out to Ghalib's Haveli at Gali Qasim Jaan, Ballimaran, which is perfect for a quiet celebration.

The heritage site offers you an insight into the legendary poet's life and times. It's open throughout the day, but the best time to visit would be in the morning. Go explore, and read out some verses from the walls to your special one.

Since you'll be in Old Delhi anyway, why not have the famous lunch there! Explore the many bylanes of the area for traditional Indian food that is not heavy on your pocket. Some of the options there include Paranthewali Gali, Nataraj and Ghantewala.

If you can't face the Purani Dilli ka crowd, however, there's always the option of  Purana Qila - a quiet walk followed by a boat ride.

Another good option for V-Day is a visit to the Taj Mahal, the biggest monument of love. The drive on the Yamuna Expressway to Agra can be a refreshing change from the choked office commutes every day.

Don't want to go that far? Get back the spring in your step by trying out some fun sports together at the Siri Fort Sports Complex or DDA sports complexes, which are located in several parts of the city, and sign up to make sure the weekend games continue.

While watching a movie together has always been a romantic idea, it need not always take the big-buck  route. You can visit the ongoing Delhi International Arts Festival or the American Centre or Siri Fort Complex, where you can catch a movie for free (see our guide on the right).

And, if you consider love to be magical, why not catch a magic show that will spice up your day! Magicians OP Sharma Jr and OP Sharma Sr are all set to entertain you with their magic tricks at their programme in Subhash Place, Ghaziabad. The show starts at 6pm today.
