JD (U)’s Santosh Kumar files his papers from Purnia Lok Sabha Constituency
JD (U) is fielding its five nominees in Seemanchal and Kosi divisions, comprising six LS seats. JD (U) will contest from Katihar, Kishanganj Purnia in Seemanchal and Madhepura and Supaul in Kosi, leaving the Araria seat for BJP.
PURNIA: Janta Dal-United’s Santosh Kumar on Tuesday filed his nomination papers from Purnia in Bihar. Kumar, the sitting Lok Sabha MP from Purnia parliamentary constituency, will be seeking re-election for a second term.
Later Kumar addressed a public meeting ‘Ashirwad Sabha’ at the Indira Gandhi indoor stadium. “We are sure about a win once again. People supported and voted for me last time and they will do the same this time,” Kumar said.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s developmental agenda, Kumar said “We will carry our developmental agenda ahead under Modi ji’s leadership.” Several leaders of BJP, JD (U) and LJP were present on the occasion.
Kumar who had defeated BJP’s Uday Singh alias Pappu Singh in 2014 is an NDA nominee supported by BJP and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) this time. JD-U had won only two seats out of 40 seats in 2014 LS polls. The party had succeeded in winning the Purnia and Nalanda seats.
