Satti had threatened to chop off the arms of people pointing fingers at the PM during election speech after party candidate Ram Swaroop filed his nomination from Mandi on April 25.

Election Commission of India (ECI), on Tuesday, issued an advisory to BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti asking him to display ‘decent conduct’ while making speeches. Satti has been given an advisory by returning officer Rugved Thakur from Mandi parliamentary constituency.

Latest advisory for Satti comes five days after he had threatened PM Modi’s detractors.

Satti had threatened to chop off the arms of people pointing fingers at the PM during election speech after party candidate Ram Swaroop filed his nomination from Mandi on April 25.

The returning officer issued an advisory as they expect decent conduct from the political leaders during the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). He has been advised to be prudent and cautious about the selection of words in his speeches in the future to ensure a fair and peaceful election.

Satti was accused of violating the MCC by making defamatory, malicious and derogatory statement against Hindu deities and general public.

Earlier Satti was barred for 48 hours from campaigning for BJP candidates after a video of him using derogatory terms against AICC president Rahul Gandhi was widely shared. He also received three notices for giving controversial statements in public meetings.

Dig at Rahul over citizenship issue

Satpal Satti took a dig at Rahul Gandhi over the question of his citizenship coming into question, saying in such a case, he could not become a Member of Parliament (MP) let alone the PM of India.

“Being a director of a British company, Gandhi poses as a British citizen in documents, and he is also contesting in the Lok Sabha polls. He will now face problems to prove himself as an Indian citizen,” said Satti.

He claimed this is the second time when a PM candidate has been questioned over their
citizenship, first one being Rahul Gandhi’s mother Sonia Gandhi.

“Rahul Gandhi has claimed he has done MPhil in economics from Cambridge University but later he claimed he has done MPhil in development studies. In the same year, a student named Raul Vinci completed his MPhil. Were Rahul Gandhi or Raul Vinci the same person or were they two different individuals?” he further questioned.
