Nearly 19,183 gadgets will be distributed among students in the second phase of the free laptop scheme in the state capital on July 27.
Principals of respective educational institutions would give away the gadgets during functions organised on their campuses during the day.
“The principals have been made nodal officers who would organise the distribution function on the campuses on July 27,” said district magistrate Anurag Yadav. The list of the beneficiaries has been given to the schools.
Earlier, the programme was scheduled on July 10, which was postponed.
Sources said that chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would grace the functions at some educational institutions, but there was no official confirmation about this.
Yadav launched the Samajwadi Party government’s free laptop scheme on March 11 when he personally distributed nearly 10,000 gadgets among the beneficiaries in Lucknow.
Since then, nearly 80,000 laptops have been distributed in functions across the state - all attended by the CM.
The beneficiaries have been asked to collect their identity cards from the office of the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) between July 23 and July 25.
The students need to bring the fee receipt of 2012-13 session Intermediate examination certificate and two passport size photographs while seeking identity cards.
