2-km human chain to save Gomti
Students, teachers, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, representatives from the civil society and prominent citizens of Lucknow -- all came together on the banks of river Gomti on Tuesday morning to be a part of the 2-km-long human chain to sensitise people about the ill effects of river pollution.

The ‘Save Gomti’ campaign was launched under the banner of Lok Adhikar Manch.
Lucknow University V-C SB Nimse, mayor Dinesh Sharma, Justice SC Verma, Padma Shree Prakash Singh and others acknowledged the youths for taking a pledge to keep the Gomti clean.
Representatives from different faiths also joined hands for the noble cause.
Muslim cleric Kalbe Sadiq and mahant Devya Giri exhorted the young minds to play their part in eco conservation.
Students assembled on the riverbank removed the filth from the river. Lucknow Municipal Corporation staff was quick to remove the heap of garbage that was taken out of the river.
