UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, who air dashed to Deoria’s Juafar village following the murder of deputy superintendent of police Zia-Ul-Haq, escaped the locals’ wrath only by accepting the demands of Haq’s family. These included a CBI inquiry and action against the policemen who had deserted Haq on Saturday.
Haq had gone to Balipur following a clash there. But when an angry mob descended on the police team, the policemen deserted Haq. His bullet-ridden body was found later.
Haq’s wife Parveen Azad has blamed Kunda legislator and food and civil supplies minister Raja Bhaiya, who resigned on Monday.
But the family’s biggest demand — the arrest of the minister — is yet to be met. “It is up to the CBI to decide how it wants to go about the case,” CM said.
