Akhilesh Yadav announces Rs 25 crore aid for Uttarakhand
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday announced financial assistance of Rs 25 crore to the government of Uttarakhand, where floods have caused large-scale devastation.
In a press statement, he expressed serious concern over the damage caused due to floods there and said citizens should come forward to extend help in dealing with the natural calamity in the hill state. Meanwhile, reviewing the flood situation in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav directed the district magistrates of the affected districts to expedite relief and rescue work. The district magistrates were also told to take the measure required to save lives.
Yadav called upon the people to help the government in providing assistance to the victim of natural calamities. He told the officers of Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli to remain vigilant.
He said officers should ensure that dams were safe and repair work was completed on time, he said. Since the state government had enough funds for relief and rescue operations, the district administration should complete all the work on time.
