The Vrindavan police on Tuesday found an American woman tourist, who was not in a proper frame of mind, loitering on the ghats, and got her admitted to a hospital.

There was talk among locals that she had been raped and had allegedly told some of them that the culprit was a local priest. The police, however, denied any rape and said the 43-year-old lady had been admitted to District Hospital for treatment. “The lady has been admitted to hospital. She does not appear to be in proper frame of mind,’’ said Akhilesh Tripathi, Incharge of Vrindavan Kotwali.

“The lady has not alleged any rape with her, as such, and so no legal formalities have been undertaken in this regard,” he said. He added that even while talking to her mother on phone, the woman did not complain of rape. It was revealed that the lady had been to Vrindavan last year too. Then she had created quite a controversy by entering into a brawl with some local.
