Half a dozen CCTV camera footage have been scanned, nearly 50 suspicious cell phone numbers are under surveillance, locations of 17 dreaded criminals have been traced and 15 police teams are deployed specially on the task. Still, there has been no breakthrough in the Rs. 50.5 lakh ATM cash loot on Friday, during which two criminals killed three employees of a cash replenishment agency in the crowded Babuganj locality here.
“In the past 30 hours, the police teams have worked on several aspects to zero in on the two assailants involved in the sensational loot but have failed to make any headway in the case,” admitted a senior police official associated with the probe. He said the police teams even tried to reconstruct the crime scene to analyse the route taken opted by the criminals after the crime but this too did not work. He said the lane went in three different directions, towards Lucknow University hostels, Mankameshwar temple and Daliganj Bridge.
The official said the video footage of at least six CCTVs from various locations was collected.
It showed the assailants had twice crossed the cash van parked in front of the ATM but their faces were not clear.
He said the footage only suggested that they entered a narrow lane from where they later disappeared.
“We have made a list of all suspicious mobile numbers operational in the area before the loot but so far have not zeroed in on any specific number. The electronic surveillance is still busy analysing the call details of various mobile numbers,” the official and added, “All 15 teams constituted for the purpose have been given different tasks related to the case”.
A Special Task Force (STF) official said that the STF sleuths had listed 17 dreaded criminals, who had a similar modus operandi.
“We are tracing the locations of these criminals. Some of their aides and friends have also been picked up and quizzed about their locations,” he said.
Two motorcycle-borne miscreants had looted cash after killing three employees of cash replenishment agency SSMS while they were refilling cash in an HDFC Bank ATM in Babuganj locality at around 12.30pm on Friday.
