Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan was frisked at the airport in the US, sparking an angry response from the senior minister. Khan has decided to cut short his official trip to US and return home early in protest.
In his response communicated through his information officer Khurshid Ahmad, Khan claimed that Americans humiliated him because he is a Muslim.
Azam Khan, who had gone with UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for a lecture at Harvard university on how the UP managed massive numbers at the Kumbh Mela at Allahabad, was frisked at the Logan airport by security personnel.
Khan who is also slated to deliver the lecture at the Harvard University on how his department managed the largest gathering of human beings at one place for a religious purpose has decided to keep his lecture brief and return early.
This means that Khan would skip various other functions he was earlier supposed to attend.
What’s more, Khan has decided to register a formal protest by using political and diplomatic channels against his humiliation on religious grounds. What appears to have angered Khan all the more was the fact that he was subjected to frisking despite possessing a diplomatic passport.
Before this former President Abdul Kalam, former defense minister George Fernandes besides actor Shah Rukh Khan have also been subjected to such frisking over which India had communicated its objection to the US government.
