Police are closely investigating three frequent visitors to the house of sex trade kingpin Saira Bano, 42, and her daughter Soni, 16, in connection with the duo’s murder on Monday night. Police suspect the three visitors, who have tainted backgrounds, carried out the sensational double murder on the behest of an insider.
“The assailants entered the house from the backdoor, which is not often used by unknown visitors. Their exit and entry route suggests they were frequent visitors to Saira’s house and were aware about the surroundings,” said a cop associated with the probe.
He said three such people had come under the scanner after investigators traced their mobile phone locations near the deceased’s house at the time of crime. It appeared that Saira’s daughter was also familiar with the assailants and was killed so she could not reveal their identities. The cop said an insider is suspected to have tipped off the assailants, as Saira was out for four hours and had returned home only 10 minutes before she was killed. “How would an outsider know she had just reached home and no male member was present in the house?” the cop asked.
The cop said there had been an attempt to make the murder look like a loot gone wrong but the actual motive was to eliminate the duo. “Saira and her daughter were both shot from point blank range, which clearly shows that the assailants’ motive was to kill them,” he emphasised.
Bano and her daughter were found dead in their multi-storey house in Basant Vihar colony of Madiaon on Monday night. The mother’s body was found lying in a pool of blood in the drawing room, while her daughter’s was found in the bathroom.
