A case has been filed against Ram Iqbal Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Ghosi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, for making objectionable comments against Muslims, police said on Saturday.
The case against the BJP candidate was registered Friday, police inspector Bind Kumar told IANS on phone.
Singh made the remarks at a public meeting in Mau district Thursday, he added. Mau is 300 km from Lucknow.
Earlier, a case for violating the model code of conduct was filed against Singh at the Sarailakhansi police station for organising a public meeting without taking permission from the district administration.
