The ruling Bahujan Samaj Party is leading in all the two Lok Sabha and three Assembly seats in UP for which by-polls were held on April 12.
BSP candidates are leading in all the Assembly constituencies Bilgram (Hardoi district), Colonelganj (Gonda) and Moradnagar (Ghaziabad) and Lok Sabha seats Azamgarh and Khalilabad, election department sources said in Lucknow.
In Bilgram, BSP candidate Ranji Tiwari is leading by a comfortable margin of around 25,000 votes while in Colonelganj, Brij Singh is ahead by over 7,000 votes of his nearest rival, election department sources said in Lucknow.
Another BSP candidate, Rajpal Tyagi, is also in the lead in Moradnagar seat, sources said.
While in Khalilabad Lok Sabha seat, BSP candidate Bhismshankar Tiwari alias Kushal Tiwari is leading by a margin of 3,500 votes, party candidate Akbar Ahmad Dampi is ahead in Azamgarh by 1,200 votes, they said.
The Azamgarh by-poll was necessitated by BSP leader Ramakant Yadav losing the Lower House seat following his joining the Opposition Samajwadi Party (SP).
Elections to Colonelganj and Moradnagar were held due to defection of the sitting MLAs and Bilgram bypolls were brought about by the death of its sitting MLA.
