The Comptroller and Auditor general has taken strong exception to the demolition of a sports complex within ten years of its construction in Gomti Nagar area in Lucknow.

The Uttar Pradesh government ordered demolition of the complex and other buildings built at the cost of over Rs 32 crores for facilitating the extension of chief minister Mayawati's dream project 'Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Shodh Sansthan', built adjacent to the structures.

"The decision of demolition of the buildings constructed at the cost of Rs. 32.98 crores within ten years of its completion without ascertaining its net present value for paving way for installing statues of legendary personalities at the sansthan was improper," the CAG report of 2009 released on Thursday stated.
