Women aren’t safe at hospitals either. In yet another incident, a private hospital doctor allegedly molested a woman who went to collect her sister’s medical report in Gomti Nagar on Tuesday evening.

The police have registered an FIR against the doctor on Wednesday. Multi-pronged investigations are on.

The complainant has pressed charges against Ford Hospital administrator Dr BL Anand under relevant sections of the IPC in her FIR.

The victim was initially too traumatised to lodge an FIR against the doctor. But, after her family supported her, she went to police station and lodged complaint.

The woman told the police that the incident took place when she had visited the hospital to collect her sister’s blood reports.

She alleged that the doctor uttered vulgar words after finding her alone in the hospital room and allegedly pulled her towards himself with an indecent intention. She, however, rescued herself, came out running and called up her relatives staying nearby.

Meanwhile, the doctor slipped out of the hospital to avoid embarrassment after the woman raised the issue. The police have registered the case under Section 509 of the IPC ( which relates to “insulting the modesty of a woman and uttering vulgar words) as the victim did not mention the entire incident in writing fear social stigma.

Gomti Nagar station officer (SO) SK Gautam said the charges of molestation and obscenity would be added to the FIR on behalf of the woman’s statement. “We are probing the matter and a stern action would be taken against the culprit”, he added.

However, the doctor has denied the allegations levelled against him when the police approached him after registering the FIR. The hospital staff were not ready to give any statement on the incident.
