A maid was rescued from the house of Kaushlendra Nath Yogi, a former MLA from Tulsipur seat in Balrampur, in Gaurav Vihar locality under Chinhat police area on Tuesday.

The victim told the police that she was forced to consume alcohol, raped and held hostage for two days. She somehow managed to inform one of her relatives who alerted the police.

ASP, trans-Gomti, Dinesh Yadav said, “During initial probe, the allegations have been found to be true and the victim has been sent for medical examination.”

He said that efforts were on to nab the former MLA.

The victim, who lived on Satrikh road with her husband and children, is a native of Faizabad. She used to work as maid in a primary school but as the school shifted, she lost her job. A year ago, she came in contact with Ashok Kumar, the driver of the ex-MLA, who offered her a job at the Yogi’s residence. The victim used to work from 10 am to 6 pm.

A few days ago, she started feeling dizzy while at work and shared it with Yogi. He offered her liquor saying he had mixed ayurvedic medicine in cold drink. When the maid came to know that it was liquor, she stopped drinking it.

The victim told the police that a few days ago, the neighbours came to know that the former MLA used to bring call-girls to his home. He suspected that she had leaked the information. Irate over this, he held her captive for two days and raped her.

She managed to call her brother-in-law who passed on the information to the police who rescued her. The former MLA is absconding.
