The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday fixed second week of November for further hearing on the petition filed by Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi seeking CBI probe into the arson at her residence in Lucknow.
An application was also moved by the petitioner before the Lucknow Bench of the Court pleading that witnesses in the case should not be harassed by the state machinery.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Abdul Mateen and Justice VK Dixit gave time to the Advocate General Jyotindra Misra to file objections in this regard.
Two counter-affidavits were filed on Tuesday by the Uttar Pradesh government and the state CB-CID which is, at present, probing the case.
On the intervening night of July 15-16, Joshi's house in Lucknow was set on fire. Congress leaders alleged the BSP was the behind the arson.
