A girl, who was traumatised after being molested, committed suicide in a village in Mainpuri district.
The police registered a case under Section 306 (Abettment to suicide) against the named accused who had entered the girl’s house to molest her. But later, during post mortem examination, the family members alleged rape and so the police also got a slide preserved for investigation.
The incident took place in Salempur village under Kurra police station. Five men entered the house of the victim on Tuesday evening and attempted to rape her. The girl cried for help and neighbourers gathered on the spot, following which the accused fled, threatening the family of dire consequences.
The girl could not bear the aftermath of the incident and on Tuesday she hanged herself in her house with her own ‘dupatta’. The body was sent for post mortem examination and on the basis of the family’s complaint, cops registered a case under Section 306 of Indian Penal Code against Ram Prasad, Arvind and Ram Das beside two others.
During the post mortem examination, the family members alleged that the girl was raped by the accused and so police asked the doctors to preserve the slide for medical examination.
“The accused have been booked under Section 306 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further investigations are on according to added charges of family members. The case will also be registered under Section 376 of IPC if rape is confirmed in the medical examination,” said Rajesh S, the SSP of Mainpuri.
