A group of ministers (GoM) has been constituted to review the implementation of industrial investment promotion scheme that the state government had announced in 2006 (during Mulayam Singh Yadav’s tenure as CM) to provide concessions to the industry to attract investment to UP.

Secretary industrial development Sanjay Prasad said the three-member GoM to be headed by agriculture minister Anand Singh would review the investments of R100 crore and above made in pursuance of the policy. The GoM has been asked to submit its report in a month’s time, he said. Minister of state for zoological gardens Shiv Pratap Yadav and minister of state for protocol Abhishek Mishra are the other two members of the GoM. Industrial and infrastructure development commissioner (IIDC) Anil Kumar Gupta will work as the member secretary of the GoM. According to sources, the GoM constituted at the behest of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would make recommendations about the various concessions promised to the industry in pursuance of the 2006 investment promotion policy. The concessions were not given to the industry following the change of government and installation of Mayawati-led BSP government in 2007. Various industrial associations had demanded that the concessions promised to new units in 2006 should be given to the industry and the investment promotion policy be implemented in the state.
