A workshop on malnutrition and child health was conducted by ‘World Vision’ on Thursday to discuss status of nutrition among children in the state.

Addressing the gathering, minister of state for health Shankh Lal Majhi said the government was committed to improve the condition of children and also focused upon the task of eliminating malnutrition among them.

He said apart from positive changes that were being brought about in the health sector by the state government, there was a need to run successive campaigns on awareness on the issue of malnutrition.

Mahant Divya Giri in her address said it was a general tendency to ignore the food intake of pregnant women in terms of nutrition and this tendency was witnessed even in rich and educated families.

Prog ramme coordinator Preeti Rai said a coordinated effort towards eliminating malnutrition could bring a positive change in the health of children in the state, but this needed efforts at different levels and from different groups.

Participants in the daylong workshop came from different parts of the state.
