Though the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and Rashtriya Nirman Nigam (RNN) constructed parks, the land still belongs to the irrigation department.

According to sources, the irrigation department has shot off a letter to the Lucknow Development Authority as well as RNN stating that the land on which the structures have been constructed belongs to it.

The embankment on the bank of the Gomti also belongs to the irrigation department but the construction agencies had constructed shops, fountains and other structure on it without getting it legally transferred, said the souces.

The irrigation department's Parikalp Nagar colony on Kanpur road was demolished and Buddha Park has been constructed over the area, sources said.

An Irrigation department officer said, “the structures standing over our land could not be razed yet we have decided to claim compensation from the departments that have constructed the structures without permission”.
