With the release of JNNURM funds by the Centre, the work of laying sewer lines and construction of roads and drains is now expected to pick up in various parts of the city.
SK Jain, JNNURM projects in-charge (Lucknow), said: “Now the work for laying sewer lines in Alambagh, and other areas would start as the Centre has released Rs 373 crore for the state as last installment for these projects. For Lucknow, Rs 52 crore has been released for sewers and Rs 32 crore for construction of drains.” He said many low-lying areas like Alambagh and Mawaiyya that were facing severe problem of water logging would be benefited by the construction of drains and sewers.
The solid waste management landfill site project, which is still not complete, is expected to be completed during the last leg of JNNURM project.
Jain said that after this LMC would start preparing projects for JNNURM II.
