In an important development in the ongoing metro project, the administration on Wednesday finalised the total area of land to be acquired for the first phase of the project.
In the metro rail land acquisition meeting, the administration also finalised the circle rates according to which the land will be acquired. “Altogether four patches of land are required for the first phase of metro project. We called the meeting to identify the total area of land to be acquired,” said district magistrate Raj Shekhar.
As per the minutes of the high profile meeting attended by almost all administrative officers, in Singar Nagar area, around 2250 square metres of land will be acquired at Rs. 55,000 per square meter. In Alambagh, around 515 square metres of land will be acquired at Rs. 55,000 per square meter of circle rate. Similarly, in Sarojni Nagar and Barigava, 2800 and 3800 square metres of land will be acquired at Rs. 48,000 per square meter of circle rate.
The district magistrate said the land rate had been finalized after going through the details of the registry of last three years. “It has been decided that the committee (to ensure land acquisition) will go by the circle rate. The fate of a few chunks of land that is mentioned as ‘Abadi’ in records will be decided on the basis of records available,” said Shekhar. He said objections had been invited to the metro and ADM, land acquistion’s office.
