A woman delivered a baby on an e-rickshaw on Thursday as she allegedly could not get an ambulance to travel from her home in Munshipulia to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Gomti Nagar.
The woman, Sadiya Khatoon, had labour pain during the day and her family tried to get an ambulance. The family reportedly waited for nearly an hour after calling the ambulance service. Later, they decided to take another vehicle and boarded an e-rickshaw.
However, before she could reach the hospital, she delivered the baby in the e-rickshaw. The family brought the mother and the child to the hospital where they were admitted and were said to be healthy.
