A coal vendor stabbed to death his two daughters, aged five and eight years, in Mau district on Saturday morning because he was ”finding it inconvenient to look after his children after the death of his wife three years ago”, police said. He was arrested.
Police said Kamlesh went to bed after dinner on Friday night. His three children, Sneha, 8; Anjani, 5; and Rishabh, 3; were also sleeping in the same room. Kamlesh woke up around 4am and allegedly stabbed his two daughters with a knife.
He also attacked his son, who managed to run away. Hearing the boy’s cry for help, locals caught Kamlesh and handed him over to police.
Additional superintendent of police Sunil Singh said Kamlesh revealed during interrogation that his wife died three years ago. He claimed to be concerned about the future of his daughters and often used to think about how he would bring them up and take care of them for so long.
He reportedly found it inconvenient to look after the children, police said, resulting in the brutal attack.
