Dozens of models were held captive for hours after their host--organiser of a fashion show--did not show up at the hotel booked for auditions in Ghaziabad on Tuesday.
The models were released after intervention by police. A case against one Rohit Sharma, organiser of the show, has been lodged.
Police said Rohit had contacted one Deepak Kumar for arranging models for his forthcoming fashion show in Gurgaon. He had asked Deepak to call the models at Apple Tree hotel in Ghaziabad's Rajnagar area for auditions on Tuesday.
On behalf of Deepak, Rohit had booked rooms. The models (55 in number) arrived in time and were provided with breakfast and lunch by the hotel management. In the meantime, Deepak got a call from Rohit who asked him to bring 20 models to Gurgaon. When he took the models there, he was shocked to know that the hotel mentioned by Rohit didn't exist.
When he called up other models in Ghaziabad he came to know that the hotel management wasn't allowing them to leave without clearing the bills. "We are investigating the case. The hotel suffered a loss of Rs. 65,000 for trusting a customer's booking through mail," said Prashant Kumar, SSP, Ghaziabad. He denied any information of money being collected from models.
