He said this to a gathering at the party headquarters here on the occasion of Independence Day. This, however, was not the first time that the SP supremo called for a change at the Centre.

Yadav, whose party extends outside support to the Congress-led UPA government with its 23 Lok Sabha MPs, said the Centre had “failed on all fronts”. Referring to widening gap between the rich and the poor, he said, “While wealth has been confined to a few people in the country, poor people are being forced to commit suicide for various reasons.”

He said the time had come to improve the situation and provide ‘roti, kapda, makan’ to everybody in the near future.

Expressing concern over the situation on the border with Pakistan, Yadav said the country’s foreign policy was lackadaisical and directionless.
