A 13-year-old student was allegedly brutally assaulted by a ‘gang’ of schoolboys, who kidnapped him on his way to school and shaved his head before throwing him on the roadside in the state capital on Friday.

The boy, a Class 7 student of St Fidelis School, was kept in captivity for over 10 hours and was found lying on the roadside near Kendriya Bhawan at Aliganj in the late evening hours.

Witnesses said the victim was found in a semi-conscious state with his limbs tied together with his school belt and tie.

The victim’s father, Anoop Srivastava, told the police that his son Ayush was going to school on a bicycle on Friday morning. He was abducted by some boys driving a white van near LDA stadium. He alleged that the abductors tied his son’s limbs with his tie and belt and took him to some undisclosed location where he was brutally beaten up.

“We didn’t know anything about what had happened and only started to suspect something was wrong when he didn’t return home at 2pm. I started searching for him and went to his school, but the authorities told us that he had not reached school that day. So, I immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint about kidnapping,” Srivastava said.

Around 8pm, while the police was still collecting clues about the boy’s disappearance, two drivers from Kendriya Bhawan dropped him home. “The drivers told us that he was found lying on the road outside the building with his hands and legs tied. He was almost unconscious and could barely talk,” said the father.

Aliganj station officer Kamlapati Yadav said the boy had received injuries on his face and other body parts and his head was half-shaved. “We tried to talk to him but he is still in shock. He has recognised two of the youngsters who kidnapped him but has been unable to tell us their names so far,” the police said.

According to the victim, the boy who was driving the van is a dropout of the same school and is often seen bullying schoolboys outside the campus along with some senior boys of the school.

Police said they were trying to identify the accused and stern action would be taken against them. The authorities of St Fidelis School, however, refused to comment on the incident.
