The state secondary education department has decided to take to social media in a bid to check copying in the UP Board examinations that begin from February 19. Secondary education minister Mehboob Ali told HT on the phone that any complaints regarding the board examinations can be posted on social media. The UP board also plans to post examination related information on facebook and twitter for the benefit of examinees. “We are also planning to set up call centres in various districts for these examinations,” he said.
The department is also trying to install CCTV cameras in around 100 sensitive examination centres across the state. For such districts or centres from where reports of mass copying have been received in the past, the secondary education department is also trying to put in place a concept of ‘special hologram’ marked answer copies. “This is to ensure that there is no exchange of answer copies,” says a department official. Meanwhile, Ali also held a meeting with education department officials in Ambedkar Nagar district.
He also said that 24x7 ‘call centres’ were also set up at the DIOS office.
