SP expels two former MLAs

lucknow Updated: Apr 19, 2009 15:21 IST

Samajwadi Party on Sunday expelled two former MLAs for indulging in anti-party activities in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, a party spokesman in Lucknow said.

Former MLA from Ambedkar Nagar Pawan Pandey and ex-MLA from Barkhera in Pilibhit Preetam Ram have been suspended by state president Shivpal Singh Yadav on the directives of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said.

He claimed that Pandey was working against the party candidates from Sultanpur and Ambedkar Nagar parliamentary constituencies respectively. Similarly, Preetam Ram was allegedly working against the SP nominee from Pilibhit, he said.
