The Samajwadi Party on Friday said it will not field its candidate against party's newly appointed national general secretary Sanjay Dutt's sister Priya Dutt, who is the Congress candidate from Mumbai North-Central seat.

"As announced earlier, we will contest on all seats in Mumbai but we will not be fielding candidate against Priya Dutt whose brother who believes in 'gandhigiri' is with us," SP national general secretary Amar Singh said.

"As Sanjay has become our national general secretary and we respect Sunil Dutt so Mulayam Singh Yadavji has decided not to field candidate against Priya," Singh said adding that the party would field candidates on rest of the seats in Mumbai.

Priya had publicly criticised Sanjay's decision to join the Samajwadi Party.
