The national executive committee of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Wednesday authorised the party chief Mayawati to take the final decision on continuing support to Congress-led UPA government at the Centre at appropriate time.

Addressing journalists in Lucknow after executive committee meeting, Mayawati assailed the UPA government for failure on all fronts. Mayawati said that the BSP, which has 21 members in Lok Sabha, had extended support to UPA for the development of the country and keep the communal forces at bay. But, the UPA had not been able to solve the problems of the people.

"The decision would be taken soon," Mayawati said, adding "Since the executive committee has authorised me to take the fianl decision, I will take stock of prevailing situation before deciding it." However, Mayawati did not elaborate any time frame on the issue.

Blasting the UPA, Mayawati said every section - farmers, labourers, traders and others - had been facing massive problems.  She said it was now her responsibility to assess the prevailing situation in the country and also look into the interest of BSP movement, before taking decision on the support issue.

In view of wrong policies and anti-people decisions the problems had worsened, Mayawati said and added corruption had also assumed serious dimension and the UPA government did not take any action to reverse the situation.

Mayawati said after Tuesday's rally BSP had two rounds of meeting of national executive committee to discuss the prevailing situation in the country. Mayawati said that BSP leaders had authorized her to take an appropriate decision on the issue of support to the UPA at the right moment.

She also announced countrywide movement to pressure the central government to withdraw anti-people policies. She said in view of prevailing uncertainty the Lok Sabha election could be held before 2014.
