Unable to reach any conclusion in the teenage girl’s rape and murder case, the police on Tuesday carried out extensive search at the spot where her decomposed body was found at a secluded place behind Lucknow Zoo on Monday.

Two caddies of Golf Club - Michael and Naseer, who were also aware of the body lying on the spot - were taken into custody for quizzing. Two rickshaw pullers were already in police custody and being interrogated in the matter.

A Satish Ganesh, inspector general of police (Lucknow), said a search was on for the deceased girl’s missing school bag and bicycle. While the two prime suspects were being interrogated to recreate the crime sequence, the CCTV footages and call details of the girl’s mobile number were being analysed.

The two suspects, Satguru and Deepu, who are rickshaw pullers and live in a slum near the crime scene had earlier told cops that they spotted the girl’s body hanging from a tree alongside the drain behind Lucknow Zoo on February 11.

The duo said they pulled down the body and took away her blazer and cell phone.

The two were taken into custody after being tracked through the same cell phone.

“Primary investigation confirmed that the two suspects are accused of concealment of crime, as they did not inform the police and fled with the blazer and phone. However, their involvement in rape and murder is yet not confirmed,” said the IG.

He said the dockets of all forensic evidences collected during post-mortem examination and from the two suspects are being sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.

The IG said the probe also revealed that two caddies of Golf Club were also aware of the crime but did not inform the police.

But, it is yet not clear whether it was done intentionally or they did not approach cops just to avoid questioning, he added. “Their medico- legal examination will also be conducted, if required,” he emphasised.

The girl had been missing from her Jankipuram house after she left for her school in Vikas Nagar on a bicycle on February 10 morning. However, she did not go to her school and CCTV footages suggested that she reached near Gold Club on bicycle.

Her parents then lodged the FIR of her disappearance with the Jankipuram police.

Her cell phone’s location was traced later on February 13. Thereafter, the two rickshaw pullers were tracked down on February 14. Later, the girl’s body was recovered on their revelations.
