With Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) determined to organize Friday's banned “Sankalp Diwas” (pledge day) Ayodhya for the construction of Ram Temple on the pattern of Somnath Temple, the police have made elaborate security arrangements in the temple town to avoid any trouble.
The principal secretary home Anil Kumar Gupta and DGP Devraj Nagar today flew to Faizabad to review the security arrangements. The government has already rushed additional force to Ayodhya.
In order to stop the influx of the people, the district police have also sealed the entry points in Ayodhya.
Tight security arrangements have also been made around Karsewak Puram and Ramsewak Puram- the two main hubs of the activities of the VHP. Three-tier security including CRPF is already in place around disputed Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi site.
Even though “sankalp diwas” would be organized all over the state, the main gathering of the VHP leaders has been planning in Ayodhya. The saffron cadres would take pledge for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya.
However talking to journalists the minister of state and Samajwadi Party's face in Ayodhya Tej Narain Pandey alias Pawan Pandey said that the VHP and its affiliates would not be allowed to vitiate communal harmony in the state.
With Lok Sabha election fast approaching, Pandey said, the Sangh Parivar has been trying to disrupt communal amity and peace in UP. Warning of stern penal action, Pandey said “nobody would be allowed to take law into his hand”.
The Samajwadi Party spokesman and food minister Rajendra Chaudhury said that during the last one-and- half-year the BJP had been making efforts for communal polarization in the state. He said the government had taken adequate measures and BJP would not be allowed to pursue its communal agenda in the state.
The district magistrate Faizabad Vipin Diwvedi said that Ayodhya had been divided into six zones and 22 sectors for security purpose and adequate force had been provided to regulate the entry of the people
Before flying to Ayodhya principal secretary home had meeting with the senior police officers here to chalk out action. In September the government had effectively thwarted the VHP's 84-kosi parikrama in Ayohdya. Thereafter its “panch kosi” parikrama was also not allowed.
