A businessman and his friend were abducted by criminals who were wearing police uniform in Jhansi late on Wednesday night.

Reports said prominent hotelier Raju Kamria and his friend Rahul Agarwal, a leading jeweler, were returning home on a two-wheeler after playing badminton at Kamria’s farmhouse when they were stopped near Atiya Talab locality and abducted.

A building guard told police that he saw some men bundling the two businessmen into a Scorpio vehicle.

He claimed the men, who were wearing police uniform, hit the duo on head when they offered resistance and took them away.

The guard, however, did not inform the police as he thought the abductors were real cops and it could be an incident of a road rage.

The family members told police that the duo played badminton on a regular basis and had left for the farm house at around 8 pm. They remained at the farmhouse till 11.15 pm and left on a scooter.

ADG Kanpur zone Avinash Chandra said the motive behind the kidnapping was not clear and the police were working on the case.

“Either of the families was yet to receive any call seeking ransom,” confirmed cops.

Police have found the scooter and the shoes worn by the businessmen.
