Cracking the whip on the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), chief secretary Jawed Usmani has directed it to select a consultant and submit a detailed project report for developing an IT City and allied projects at Chak Ganjaria farmland by July 15.

The 850-acre farmland on Sultanpur Road belongs to the Animal Husbandry Department; its officials have been told to move all their activities from the site to an alternative 25-acre land provided to them at Rehman Kheda, at the earliest.

Given top priority by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, the proposed plan includes developing an IT and a 'medi-city' with a world-class cancer institute, a modern dairy plant, UP Administrative Academy office and several other technical and management institutes.

Usmani, who was reviewing the project, said the plan to build the cancer institute would be taken up on July 15.

Moreover, officials of the departments, who have to execute their own respective allied projects at the site, have been asked to quickly complete formalities and take physical possession of the land allocated to them at the Ganjaria Farm by July 6.

The officials of the concerned department have been asked to invite offers and ink a memorandum of understanding with the interested party immediately.

The personnel department has also been instructed to draft a plan for the construction of the UP administrative academy building.

The LDA, which has been made the nodal agency for the project, was directed to coordinate with the concerned departments for transfer and possession of land allotted to them.

Moreover, the officials have been told to start work on their respective projects only after obtaining the necessary no objection certificates and clearances from the forest, environment department and the pollution control board.
