The state government has planned to launch a comprehensive housing policy for integrated urban development. In order to protect the eco-system, the proposed policy would take adequate care of rivers passing through cities in the state.
Talking to mediapersons on Thursday, principal secretary housing and urban planning Sadakant said a broad framework had already been completed and the policy would soon be finalised.
Pointing out non-availability of urban land, Sadakant said the farmers, whose land would be acquired, would be involved in the development process. He said the move was to give back 30% to 40% acquired land after development so that farmers could earn more.
“They should be partner in development model in UP,” Sadakant said and added there was plan to allow “mixed use” of land under the policy, which means allowing commercial activities from housing unit.
