The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has decided to give incentives to bus drivers and conductors who do not avail leave during festive season from October 17 to 24.
The decision aims at ensuring the availability of adequate number of buses during Diwali.
Bus drivers and conductors working during the festive season will be given Rs 300 per day in addition to the monthly salary if they provide their services to the Corporation for seven days and Rs 350 per day for eight days.
Employees working at the roadways’ workshops will be given Rs 700 in addition if they work for seven days and Rs 850 for eight days.
“The decision has been taken to ensure people do not face problems during the festival,” said manager, Allahabad region, UPSRTC Harishchandra Yadav.
Yadav said the decision would also help UPSRTC maintain/increase its revenue.
Meanwhile, berths are not available in most of the trains due to festive rush.
Railways officials said that confirmed reservation would not be available till October 22.
