President of the Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday said the SP government was committed to fulfil its electoral promises. He said already several schemes, which were part of the election manifesto, had been implemented and more would be rolled out soon.
Addressing a gathering at a function for the distribution of laptops to 7217 students of Etawah and Mainpuri at Saifai along with chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, the SP chief said the state government had been trying to provide a level playing field in the education sector to every section of the society. Emphasizing that measures had been taken for allround development of the state, Yadav said laptop distribution was a unique project, which would benefit the younger generation.
Referring to the tragedy in Uttarakhand, Yadav said the UP government had already sanctioned Rs 25 crore and more assistance would be provided to the affected people. Yadav said party schemes like unemployment allowance, Kanya Vidya Dhan and laptop distribution had now attracted other state governments also. Pointing out that students should make proper use of the laptops, Yadav said any student trying to sell the e-machine would be tracked down and action would be taken against him.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said laptop would bridge the rural and urban divide. SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav conducted the programme.
