The state government has set a target of making 30 districts ODF by December 31 this year. Kumar said he will now review the on-ground progress of the work with divisional commissioners on the 10th of every month. District magistrates have been directed to speed up the work and spare at least half-an-hour each day for monitoring it. “To make the state ODF by October 2 next year, 1.55 crore toilets are to be constructed. To achieve the target, 44,000 toilets are to be made every day,” Kumar said, reviewing works done under the Swachh Bharat Mission through video conferencing.

“It would be better if divisional commissioners meet with respective DMs prior to this meeting (between the chief secretary and the divisional commissioners) on the 5th of each month to review the progress,” he said. The chief secretary congratulated officers on making Shamli district and all villages on the banks of the Ganga there defecation free.
