Amid controversy over farmers getting certificates for a loan waiver of amount as low as Rs 10, the Yogi Adityanath government has asked the officials to release and publicise the lists of farmers whose loan of Rs 1 lakh have been waived.

“Do circulate list of farmers whose loans of Rs 1 lakh have been waived,” said agriculture production commissioner (APC) Raj Pratap Singh in a government order (GO) dated September 12.

The missive has been sent to all divisional commissioners and district magistrates.

The GO further said “Reports suggest that certificates of waiver of a low loan amount have been distributed at camps being organised in different districts. It is clarified in this regard that besides the loan amount, uncalculated interest of up to Rs 1 lakh too has been transferred to crop loan accounts in accordance with the rules. This is the reason for low amount being shown in some cases.”

The state government has so far distributed loan waiver certificates of Rs 7,371 crore to 11,93,224 farmers. These include certificates for waiver of Re 1 to Rs 100 to 4,814 farmers, Rs 100 to Rs 500 to 6,895 farmers, Rs 500 to Rs 1000 to 5,553 farmers, Rs 1000 to Rs 10,000 to 41,690 farmers and Rs 10,000 and above to 11,27,890 farmers.
