Shiv Nadar Foundation (SNF), in collaboration with the state government and CBSE, has begun the process of handpicking students of VidyaGyan, an academy for meritorious rural children.

This three-phase process intends to select bright students from every rural government school across 59 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Approximately 2,000 students have been shortlisted from among the 1.6 lakh students, who had initially been invited for the selection process. The shortlisted students would have to appear for the second round of test and the top 400 students will be inducted to VidyaGyan after the authorities verify their background.

Established in 2009 with ViyaGyan, Bulandshahr, the academy currently has two schools, situated at Bulandshahr and Sitapur, with over 1300 students. It is a radical social experiment in nurturing leadership from amongst highly gifted rural poor children, in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
