After 17 years of an alleged relationship, a 36-yearold woman accused a senior PCS officer of rape after an assurance of marriage.

She lodged an FIR against the official with Mahila Thana here in the state capital on Wednesday.

Kanak Lata Dubey, inspector of Mahila Thana, said the woman had accused one Karunesh Verma, senior PCS officer posted in Bareilly.

In her complaint, the woman mentioned that she came in contact with Verma when he was preparing for PCS in Allahabad in 1998. She alleged that Varma sexually exploited her after assuring to marry her and later married another woman after getting the government job.

Dubey said the woman alleged that Verma even continued his relationship with her. The ‘victim’ said Verma subjected her to abortion twice. The complainant stated that she was registering the FIR now, as she no longer trusted the accused.

Dubey said further probe was on after registering an FIR against Verma in this connection.
