Blood samples of a couple that had on October 3 alleged that their newborn boy had been replaced by a girl were collected for DNA testing at Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital here on Thursday. The baby's blood sample was also collected.

Sandeep Kumar and his wife Sushila, residents of Nandpur village of Sahnewal, had alleged that the hospital staff had swapped their newborn boy on September 30.
Dr RK Karkara, senior medical officer of the civil hospital, said the test would be conducted at a forensic lab in Chandigarh and the report was expected in 10 days.

The DNA testing is being done though the inquiry panel, investigating into the allegations by the couple, had in its preliminary report stated it was a clerical mistake in which a staff nurse had by mistake written that the child born was a boy, though in reality it was a girl. On the basis of the report, three staff nurses and a class-4 employee were transferred.
