In an initiative taken by the state excise and taxation department to help the industry, profile of input tax credit (ITC) can now be checked online by the applicant until September.
The department has also decided to allow industrialists and others to apply for value-added tax (VAT) refund online, in which Wipro is helping the department.
In a seminar organised by the excise and taxation department on Friday, excise and taxation officer (ETO) Shivani Gupta, who had come from Chandigarh, spoke at length on the plans of the department that would help the industry and taxation advocates go paperless.
Jatinder Khurana, executive member of Indian Taxation Advocates Association, said a person could also fill remarks for ITC in case it had been submitted with an error so that the official concerned could correct it. On the other hand, if an applicant had submitted VAT refund application with an error, it could also be corrected online.
Suggestions were also given to the ETO by advocates and industrialists present during the seminar.
