District Congress president (rural) Malkit Singh Dakha on Tuesday said that the Congress had always worked hard for the people of the state by providing them basic amenities.
The Congress has always taken care of the people of the rural areas, Dakha added.
Dakha was distributing the grants, provided by minister for information and broadcasting Manish Tewari, at Malkpur village near here. He distributed Rs 3 lakh from the MPLADS funds.
Dakha said that the SAD-led state government in Punjab had failed on every front and items of basic use had also gone out of the reach for common people of the state.
He said that it was during the Congress regime in the state when both the rural and urban areas were provided grants at par without discrimination.
Pawan Dewal, district president (urban), said that the condition of law and order in the state was worse and could not be improved by the SAD-BJP government.
He said that there were no funds to start the projects of importance as the state government had emptied the coffers that were filled during the Congress regime.
