A day after the expulsion of 10 Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers who were contesting as Independents from various wards of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, the party has warned that more workers would be expelled if they oppose the official SAD candidates.

Revenue minister and SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia declared on Monday that indiscipline would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those found acting against the party's nominees during the corporation elections.

"The party high command would be receiving reports about activities of party workers during the MC polls. If any party worker is found working against the party's interests or the official candidates, he or she would be expelled for six years," said Majithia.

District SAD (urban) president Hira Singh Gabria said, "Reports on the role of SAD workers would be sent regularly to the party high command. Those found guilty of anti-party activities would face stringent action."

The local candidates who were expelled for six years on Sunday are Randhir Singh Sibia (ward No 1), Harpal Singh (No 10), Harpreet Singh Bedi (No 57), Amreek Singh Pannu (No 70), Baldev Singh (No 12), Jaspal Singh (No 42), Swaran Singh (No 65), Sohan Singh (No 68), Kashmeer Singh Sheera (No 67) and Sukhwinder Singh Binder (No 61).
